Details of the expenses met by the Funds are set out in the letter of invitation. Reimbursement for standard class rail fares and petrol is made during the course of the meeting. For audit purposes, receipts will be required in support of claims. The Funds do not meet the cost of taxi fares (but see note on travel regarding the journey from Windermere to Grasmere), hire cars or mileage claims.
Audio Visual Equipment
A screen, data projector, laptop, pointer and flipchart are available. Participants should also have some form of back up presentation. If participants have any further requirements, they will need to advise the Funds’ office as far in advance of the meeting as possible.
Abstracts of all of the papers are required before the meeting. They should be up to a side of A4 in length and there is no particular format. Copies will be circulated to all participants at the meeting and all copies are in black and white. It is important that participants do not speak for longer than the time allotted to them, within which provision should be made for the answering of questions on the presentation.
There is free internet access at the hotel. Please note that mobile phone reception can be a problem in Grasmere.
Weather permitting, there will be an optional walk so participants should bring sensible footwear if this activity is of interest to them. Walking boots are not essential - training shoes with a good grip or walking shoes with some support will be adequate and there are a number of interesting walks direct from the hotel. The hotel has an indoor heated swimming pool, sauna and small gym.
A charge, the amount of which is shown in the letter of invitation and on the registration forms, will be made which will include all meals and drinks as are available to participants. No formal programme is organised for accompanying guests but details of places to visit, local walks etc. can be obtained from the staff at reception.
