By Rail

The nearest station is Windermere. From London, the intercity service stops at either Preston, Oxenholme or Lancaster where participants must change trains for Windermere.

Tickets can be purchased online at www.virgintrains.co.uk or www.nationalrail.co.uk. and can be collected from ticket machines at the station. Participants will need to have the credit card used to purchase the tickets and the code issued by the provider. This service is also available to overseas participants and there is no charge. Participants are asked to purchase tickets early to take advantage of the reduced advance fares.

Reimbursement for UK Standard Class rail fares will be made during the meeting and the auditors will require receipts with all claims.

There is a public bus service to Grasmere and the bus stop is just outside Windermere station. Buses run fairly frequently and the times of services are shown at the bus stop.

There is also a taxi rank at Windermere station. The Funds will meet the cost of the taxi journey from Windemere to the hotel on Monday evening but will not reimburse taxi fares for any other part of your journey.

By Car

From London take the M1 and M6 or M40/M42 and M6. Leave the M6 at Junction 36 which is the South Lakes turning. Take the A590 (Kendal Bypass) and follow signs to the A591. The A591 passes through Windermere and Ambleside before reaching Grasmere. The hotel is situated in the centre of the village next to the church and there is ample parking at the rear of the hotel.

Reimbursement will also be made for the cost of petrol, a receipt for which will be required by the auditors. The Funds do not reimburse participants for mileage claims or the cost of hire cars.
