NUTRITION
Prof. J.H. Cummings | £80,000 |
For his outstanding research that established the role of the colon in human health and nutrition. |
OPTOELECTRONICS
Prof. R.C. Hardie | £50,000 |
For his outstanding contributions to the study of the physiology of insect vision. |
Prof. A. Zisserman | £50,000 |

An introduction was given by Lord Selborne, GBE, FRS, Chairman of the Trustees who thanked all the prizewinners for their excellent work and introduced The Rt Hon David Willetts MP, Minister for Universities & Science, who would be presenting the prizes. |
