2012 Prizes

A summary of the 2012 prizes awarded on 6 February is as below.

NUTRITION

Prof. J.H. Cummings £80,000
For his outstanding research that established the role of the colon in human health and nutrition.

OPTOELECTRONICS

Prof. R.C. Hardie £50,000

For his outstanding contributions to the study of the physiology of insect vision.

Prof. A. Zisserman £50,000
For his outstanding contributions to modern computer vision.

PRIZEGIVING 6 FEBRUARY 2012

Held at the Royal College of Physicians, Regents Park, London

  An introduction was given by Lord Selborne, GBE, FRS, Chairman of the Trustees who thanked all the prizewinners for their excellent work and introduced The Rt Hon David Willetts MP, Minister for Universities & Science, who would be presenting the prizes. 
Lord Selborne, GBE, FRS then read the citations. 
 

Professor J.H. Cummings was awarded £80,000 for his outstanding research that established the role of the colon in human health and nutrition.
