Nutrition

What we eat influences our health and wellbeing throughout our whole lives.

How we produce, process and distribute food has a major impact on the planet, and can contribute to environmental degradation, the loss of biodiversity and global warming. So nutrition is high on the agenda for both the public and policy makers.

We support research in human nutrition and animal nutrition (as distinct from animal husbandry). That includes research at all levels, from molecular mechanisms to public health. We also support research in crop husbandry, including plant breeding and soil health. And because human health and planetary health are so closely connected, we encourage research that crosses disciplines and addresses global issues.
